To begin your treatment, we see you in the practice for an assessment of your teeth and gums. As long as your teeth are healthy, they can be whitened, so we make sure this is the case. We use advanced digital technology to take scans and images of your teeth, which are used to ensure your bespoke whitening trays have a snug and comfortable fit.
When your whitening trays are ready, we show you how to apply the right amount of specialised whitening gel and make sure you are happy with fitting the trays into your mouth correctly. It is then over to you for treatment at home!
You need to wear your whitening trays for 2-3 weeks, either overnight or for a shorter time during the day, as advised by your dentist. Many people choose to whiten their teeth as they sleep, ensuring treatment will not get in the way of their daily routines.
Once you have completed treatment at home, we see you in the practice for a quick boost appointment. After this, your dazzling smile will be ready to show off! We make sure we show you a photo of your teeth before you began the treatment, so you can really appreciate how the colour of your teeth has been transformed.
Yes, when carried out by a qualified and experienced dental professional, teeth whitening is completely safe. Your dentist is best placed to look after your teeth, and uses regulated whitening treatments. You should avoid home teeth whitening kits that can be bought online or in a beauty salon, as these are unregulated and could cause damage.
Teeth whitening will cause no damage to your natural tooth enamel or structure. You may experience some sensitivity during your whitening treatment, but this will fade once you stop wearing the trays.
The length of your results from teeth whitening treatment will depend on your individual case. Everyone’s teeth are different and take to the treatment in different ways. Typically, your teeth whitening results can last anything from a few months to three years before needing to be topped up, if desired.
