Why choose Invisalign?

Invisalign is the clear choice for many patients. It is extremely easy to use, comfortable and uses innovative digital technology in every step of the process. Your bespoke aligners gradually move the positions of your teeth over the course of your treatment. All you need to do is wear each aligner for 20-22 hours per day, letting the gentle forces get to work. Invisalign aligners are designed with comfort in mind, with no metal present at all, and no wires that could irritate your mouth.

Invisalign blends seamlessly into your life, with no need for you to make any changes to your diet or lifestyle. The aligners are removable, allowing you to eat and drink whatever you choose and brush your teeth easily and effectively to maintain good oral hygiene. Under guidance from your dentist, you could even remove your aligners for a couple of hours to attend a special event!

How can Invisalign help me?

We can use Invisalign to help with a whole variety of orthodontic problems, including crowding, misalignment, gaps and issues with bite. As well as improving the way your smile looks, straightening your teeth can have a positive effect on your overall appearance, providing support and structure to your facial shape.

Invisalign can also give a huge boost to your confidence and self esteem, giving you a reason to smile again. This starts even during the treatment process, as the aligners are virtually invisible in the mouth when worn. Invisalign is the clear choice for patients searching for a cosmetic approach to their orthodontic treatment.

What does Invisalign treatment involve?

1

Consultation

Your first appointment involves a thorough consultation, where we talk you through Invisalign treatment and examine your teeth to ensure you are a suitable candidate. We discuss your ideal results and take scans and images of your teeth using advanced digital technology.

2

Planning

We use the digital scans of your teeth to create your bespoke treatment plan and ensure your clear aligners will be accurate and comfortable. We can even use specialised software to show you a preview of your new smile and exactly how your teeth will move over the course of your treatment.

3

Straightening

You will wear many different aligners over the course of your Invisalign treatment, with each set worn for 1-2 weeks before you move to the next. The aligners move your teeth little by little until your new smile has been achieved, controlling each exact movement based on your treatment plan. We see you for regular appointments to ensure everything is going smoothly, making small adjustments if necessary.

4

Complete!

When you have worn your last aligner, your treatment is complete! It’s one of the most rewarding parts of our job when we see you delighted with your new smile. We give you a retainer to wear to ensure your teeth stay in their new positions for the long term and leave you to enjoy smiling with pride.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does Invisalign treatment take?

The length of Invisalign treatment varies depending on each individual patient, and an expected timeframe is given to you at the consultation stage. As a guide, most Invisalign treatment is completed in 9-18 months. Straightforward cases will be completed in a faster time, while more complex cases require more aligners and therefore more time.

  • Are Invisalign clear aligners comfortable?

Yes! Invisalign aligners are designed with comfort in mind, making them easily able to be worn for 22 hours per day. The clear plastic fits snugly over the teeth and includes no metal brackets or wires that could come loose, dig into your gum or irritate your mouth.

  • What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Invisalign comes with many benefits, including:
    - Highly discreet and aesthetic treatment
    - Able to be removed for eating and drinking
    - Fits seamlessly into your lifestyle
    - Innovative, using state-of-the-art digital technology
    - Able to be used for a range of issues.

  • Can I take my Invisalign aligners out?

Yes, Invisalign aligners are completely removable. You can take them out to eat and drink whatever you choose, rather than feeling limited as can be the case with fixed braces. The removable nature of the aligners also means you can brush and floss your teeth as normal, promoting excellent oral hygiene during treatment. It is important to keep your aligners in a suitable hard container when out of your mouth to avoid them getting lost or damaged.

  • Will Invisalign affect my speech?

It may take you a few days to a week to get used to the feeling of the aligners in your mouth, and you may find your speech is affected at first. Many people get a slight lisp initially but this is temporary. You will be talking clearly again before long.

  • Why do I need to wear retainers after my treatment?

Teeth have a habit of moving out of place, even after orthodontic treatment. You need to wear a retainer to keep your teeth in their new positions and ensure your smile stays straight for the long term. We advise that you wear your retainer on a part time basis (usually overnight) for as long as you want your smile to remain straight.
