Veneers

Transform your smile with comfortable and natural looking veneers

Increasingly, many patients are searching for a way to achieve their perfect smile, particularly with the modern focus on social media. Veneers are thin, tooth coloured shells which are fitted to the front surface of your tooth to enhance your smile and cover areas of damage. They are very versatile and are commonly used on front teeth, although can be fitted to any tooth.

Why choose veneers?

Veneers are a highly aesthetic cosmetic treatment, truly able to change the appearance of your smile. They can also be used effectively to cover small areas of damage, mask dull or discoloured teeth, close gaps and change the shape of one or more teeth. Veneers are strong and durable, securely fixed to your natural tooth for a stable result.

Veneers can be made from porcelain or ceramic material to create an incredibly natural looking finish. The treatment is minimally invasive, needing just a small amount of enamel structure, if any, to be removed to make way for the veneer.

What does the treatment for veneers involve?

Initially, we ensure you are suitable for treatment by examining your teeth and gums and checking they are healthy. We discuss your ideal results, including the desired shade of your new veneers and how you want them to look.

We prepare your teeth by removing a layer of enamel, if necessary, and take digital impressions so your custom veneers can be created. To protect your teeth between appointments, we fit a temporary restoration in place.

When your final veneers are ready, we invite you for a fitting appointment. We make sure the look is exactly as you imagined before fixing the veneers to your teeth with strong dental adhesive.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I look after my veneers?

The best way to look after your veneers is to treat them just like your natural teeth. Keep up with a regular brushing and flossing routine to avoid any build ups of plaque occurring on the tooth underneath. We also advise that you avoid using your teeth to open anything, chew pen tops or bite into very hard foods, to minimise any damage occurring to your veneers. It is also important to visit your dentist for regular examination appointments so they can keep an eye on your restoration and natural teeth.

  • Does it hurt to get veneers?

The fitting of your veneers is completely pain free, as this process is non-invasive and the veneers are attached to the front of your tooth. We use local anaesthetic to minimise your discomfort whilst your teeth are being prepared for treatment and make sure you are ready before we begin.

  • Are veneers irreversible?

Yes, as some of your natural tooth structure usually has to be removed to make space for your veneers, it is an irreversible treatment. Your veneers will last a long time if looked after properly, but will need to be replaced when necessary due to natural wear and tear or damage.

  • Will my veneers look natural?

Veneers are a very aesthetic treatment, able to easily pass for natural teeth. The shape, size and colour of your veneers is led by your preferences. If you are having a single veneer to cover damage or discolouration, we can make this beautifully blend into your smile. We can also use veneers to dramatically change the colour of your teeth and transform your appearance.
